“First-time political candidates like Cara Berg Powers, who is running for School Committee in Worcester this fall, are also motivated by what they see the public education system’s “testing culture” doing to their own kids. While Ms. Powers’ daughter, who is going into first grade this year, is still two years away from taking her first MCAS, the testing-focused curricular model it’s fed into in the early grades has already stressed out and flummoxed her otherwise bright student, she said.”

The repetition (style of instruction), what it actually seems to be doing, is teaching kids how to take the test.
